SCHOOL MASCOT – GAELS

Gaels are members of the Goidelic branch of the Celtic-speaking peoples.  The Goidels came from the European continent and settled in Ireland.  From there some went to the Isle of Man.  The name Scotti was used for Irish people in Latin documents.  About 500 A.D. some Irish Scotti settled in Scotland and gave the country their name.  The Gaels became the ancestors of the Scottish Highlanders.  Today the term Gaels often means the Highland Scots, but if language alone is considered, the Irish have an equal right to the name.

SCHOOL SONG

MIGHTY GAELS

(Tune: Norte Dame Victory March)

Gaels, Gaels, we’re cheering for you

Beneath the banner of gold and blue

Fight, team, fight and do your best

Show them you’re mighty, honest, and true

Show those _____________ what you can do!

While we stand here cheering you,

It’s onward to victory!
