St. Mary’s School is an educational outreach of St. Mary’s Catholic Parish. The school maintains a strong Catholic identity through its Pastoral leadership. Teachers are empowered as catechists. Parents are supported in their role as the primary catechist of their children. All students are required to participate in weekly, all-school Mass. CHILDREN SERVING AS MINISTERS AT WEEKDAY MASSES Baptized Catholics who have received their first Eucharist may receive communion during Mass. Only students who have completed the parish server’s training may serve at Mass. Students are asked by teachers to serve as lector, intercession reader, song leader, cantor, usher, greeter, announcer, or gift-bearer. RELIGIOUS CELEBRATIONS St. Mary’s religious celebrations follow the Roman Catholic Church liturgical calendar. The church calendar begins with Advent and continues with the Christmas season, winter Ordinary Time, Lent, Easter season, and summer/fall Ordinary Time. The parish calls upon the church family, which includes St. Mary’s School, to enter into a journey of salvation by participating in each season. Each season is rich with the Word, prayer, symbolism, and community worship through daily activities, mass, and the sacraments. DAILY RELIGIOUS CONTACT In the school proper, the day begins with an all-school scripture reading and prayer. Noon prayer is recited before each meal, and the day ends with a prayer.
